By Maurice L. Calhoun
Inspired by the voices of Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, and Barack Obama, grounded in the Word of God, and drawn from the poetry of the soul.
What are you running to—
the quick glance or the deeper why?
The scan that clears you fast,
or the one that makes you lie still long enough to cry?
…
Somebody woke up this morning with a question in mind,
a whisper of doubt they were trying to unwind:
"Lord… am I Somebody? Do I matter at all?
Or am I just shadows that dance on the wall?"
…
They said, "Slow down."
God said, "Go."
They said, "Wait."
God whispered, "Trust Me—you already know."
…
Martin stood on the mountaintop,
looking out at the promised land,
and said with the thunder of a prophet's hand:
"Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve."
…
Santiago still rows, though his hands are worn,
his body bent, his clothes all torn.
But faith still hums beneath his skin—
he loses the world, yet fights to win.
…
Were you there when courage could rise?
Were you there when truth met your eyes?
Were you there when silence was easy
and mercy looked costly?
…
Glory Hallelujah.
Still I Rise.
THE GREATEST… IS IN ME.
"For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." — Philippians 2:13
"If my mind can conceive it, my heart can believe it — I know I can achieve it! Keep hope alive!"
"I am the greatest — I said that even before I knew I was. To be a great champion, you must believe you are the best."
"Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way."
"Greatness is never a given. It must be earned. We ask you to believe not in our ability to bring change — but in yours."
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Each workshop is a prophetic encounter — weaving spoken-word poetry, scripture, and the wisdom of giants to call forth the leader hiding inside the wounded.

Experience the poetry and teachings of Maurice L. Calhoun — live, unfiltered, and anointed.
Maurice didn't just speak to us — he spoke for us. Every word felt like it had been pulled from the deepest part of my own story. I left that room knowing I was somebody.
Maurice L. Calhoun is a sermonic poet, leadership developer, and minister whose work stands at the intersection of sacred testimony and transformative leadership. His poetry does not flinch from the hard truths — the courtrooms, the midnight prayers, the empty chairs — because he believes that authentic leadership must be born from authentic encounter with reality.
Through Inspiration-Centered Leadership, Maurice has created a series of workshop experiences that honor the full weight of the human journey — not to exploit pain, but to reveal the extraordinary authority that has been forged within it.
His foundational conviction: the wounded leader is not a broken person. They are a leader in the making.
"The cave is not punishment. The cross is not failure. Both are the path — not a detour from it."CONNECT ON LINKEDIN
